MINISTERS responsible for trade, transport, infrastructure, and security within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have convened a virtual inter-ministerial meeting to address the various challenges faced at the Kasumbalesa border post, situated between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.
The meeting is being chaired by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Honourable Felix Mhona, who is overseeing efforts to resolve the ongoing issues at the border post.
Kasumbalesa, a key trade gateway between the DRC and Zambia, has been plagued by several persistent challenges. These include inadequate infrastructure, administrative bottlenecks, excessive delays, congestion, and heightened security concerns.
