SADC Chairperson, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has left Harare for Kampala, Uganda to attend the eleventh Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.
The meeting is jointly organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Government of Uganda in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank and the United Nations system organisations.
The theme of the session is “Driving job creation and economic growth through sustainable, inclusive, science-and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063”
The meeting aims to among other things, review progress, challenges, and opportunities in the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063 of the African Union, strengthen learning and advocate effective policy measures and evidence-based solutions to advance implementation of SDGs at regional and global levels.
The forum will also follow up on the outcomes of the Summit of the Future held in September 2024.
President Mnangagwa who is accompanied by the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Professor Amon Murwira and Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube, was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi, service chiefs and senior government officials.
