Masunda community supports government in building new school

THE Masunda community in Zvishavane has joined forces to support government efforts in improving educational infrastructure, with three classroom blocks at Muvungani Primary School set for completion next month.

Residents from Vengesa, Vaka, and Masunda have collaborated to establish the new Muvungani Primary School to shorten the distance children must travel to access education.

Their initiative aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra, “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo/Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo”, which has inspired the project.

“We are very happy with the way we have progressed, and looking at where we started, we can say that there is a huge difference. Our hope is to finish these three classrooms within the next three weeks, and we are confident of that,” a community member said.

“The community decided to build a primary school in the Juta area to reduce the distance children were walking to the nearest facility in Siboza, and we are delighted that the structure is taking shape,” another community member added.

Spearheading the initiative, the local traditional leader, Chief Masunda said he is impressed by the project’s progress and is confident that the school will play a pivotal role in reducing distances travelled by learners while enhancing learning standards in the area.

“We are hopeful that by the beginning of next term, we will be done with three grades, meaning the school will open doors to all grade ones, twos, and threes from this area. We are happy with the progress. We are really working as a team where everyone should contribute to the success of the project. The goal is for the learners to have a conducive learning environment,” Chief Masunda said.

The construction of Muvungani Primary School dovetails with the government’s Vision 2030 and inclusive development thrust.
