YOUTHS from across Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces have welcomed the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme, saying it will enable them to contribute to the national economy.
For many, the launch of the scheme marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
“I am excited to be part of this initiative and I am planning to start a poultry business with the support of the scheme,” a youth said.
“I am happy with the launch of this scheme because it shows that the President is walking the talk about youth empowerment and he always delivers,” another added.
The fund, which has been allocated US$2 million, will be managed as a revolving fund, amid the hope it will be a game changer for many youths across the country.
“Your Excellency, we are profoundly grateful for your wise counsel and pragmatic empowerment programmes that continue to transform the livelihoods of our youth. As we continue to make big strides towards the attainment of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, today’s programme is a milestone achievement in the empowerment of our youth.
“The Youth League is geared to fulfil its constitutional mandate of mobilising youth to take an active role in nation building, whilst improving their livelihoods and quality of life,” the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Honourable Tino Machakaire said.
Special Presidential Investment Advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarara praised the initiative.
“This initiative is a testament to your resolve to uplift the lives of the youths ensuring a bright future for Zimbabwe. We will make sure that the fund reaches the youths and that it benefits every youth who wants to venture into business and it will continue revolving.”
With financial support, training, and mentorship on offer, many young entrepreneurs are eager to turn their business ideas into reality.
