MINISTERS of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution are in full support of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of an upper-middle income society by 2030.

The inaugural meeting between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the provincial ministers saw deliberations on a number of issues regarding national development.

Vice President General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga called on the ministers to be committed to service delivery.

“Our focus on provincial development reflects our commitment to ensure notable growth and empowerment in our 10 provinces. You are aware that the President is the chairman of devolution and as such is committed to the national development and your participation in this is crucial. Be reminded that the President is the only one elected by the whole nation as a constituency. In other words, he is the only person democratically elected by the entire country grouped as one constituency,” he said.

The provincial ministers also expressed commitment to the broader vision of an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

“Each and every province was given a chance to unpack what they are doing towards the national GDP through various activities and this is part of the broader vision,” Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Christopher Magomo said.

“The interface was critical for the decentralisation and devolution agenda in our provinces and focus on modernisation projects that are outstanding for the benefit of the citizens,” Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira noted.

“I was given the opportunity to touch on the economic developments in my province in different sectors and at the same time look at social services for the people such as Pfumvudza, clean water as well as challenges we are facing,” Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Apolonia Munzverengwi added.

Zimbabwe is aiming for an industrialised economy realised through development-oriented policies from across the country’s 10 provinces and the natural resources abundant nationally.
