FORMER Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa has been appointed as Malawi’s Flames interim head coach, the Football Association of Malawi announced this Friday.

Pasuwa has carved a cult-hero status in Malawi after steering Nyasa Big Bullets to five consecutive domestic league championships since arriving from Zimbabwe in 2018.

Before moving to Malawi, Pasuwa had won four consecutive league titles at Zimbabwe giants Dynamos.

The former Warriors coach takes over from Patrick Mabedi who left the Flames bottom of Group L of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers without a point from four matches.

Kalisto Pasuwa will be assisted by former CAPS United defender Peter Mponda who is the current coach of Silver Stars and Pritchard Mwanza while Kinnah Phiri and Young Chimodzi are the technical advisors.

His first match in charge is away to Burundi in a dead-rubber for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on the 15th November.
