ZIMBABWE has stepped up efforts to come up with a people oriented 2025 national budget by engaging development partners on technical and financial input.
A Government, development partner engagement for the 2025 national budget was held in Harare this Wednesday with stakeholders sharing ideas on resource mobilisation and ensuring an accountable fiscal system.
Development partners expressed willingness to assist with crafting the budget which will be presented next month.
“The entire thrust is on how we can tackle issues to do with the socio-economic development of the nation in light of how we can accelerate project developments and that is how we can accelerate development of the nation.
“This is the way to go and we are confident that resolutions from this meeting will be key in the formulation of the budget,” UNDP Resident Representative Dr Ayodele Odusolasaid.
Treasury described development partner support as an important element in facilitating socio-economic development.
“Development support is one of the key fundamental areas that we are focusing, no wonder why we had to hold such a meeting to shape the development trajectory of the nation while looking at key merits of growth,”the Minister of Finance, Investment Promotion and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube said.
Development partners continue to play an important role in providing financial support to the country’s national budget.
