PREMIER Soccer League debutants, Arenel Movers are leaving nothing to chance in their quest to survive the dreaded chop in the topflight which kicks off on the 24th of February.
Halfway through their pre-season preparations, newly promoted Premier Soccer League side Arenel Movers are set to name their squad this Friday.
The club’s assistant coach Nkosilathi Nkomo revealed that they are optimistic of competing in the elite league after assessing the arsenal at their disposal.
“We have gone for three weeks as part of our preparations and things are beginning to take shape. We expect to name our twenty-five-member squad this Friday and we hope to compete in the league. After naming our squad, we will then go for another week of camp with the players, and we are confident the guys will compete in the topflight.”
Affectionately known as the Sweet Boys, Arenel ended their Division One campaign without a loss under the guidance of Kudzai Mhandire who has since been reassigned to the post of team manager.
This comes after the club lured former Quelaton and Bulawayo City coach Farai Tawachera to take over as the new head coach.
The club‘s Chief Executive Officer Juma Phiri is confident they will survive relegation.
“We have had some technical changes bringing on board a qualified coach with premiership experience Farai Tawachera. We trust he will guide the team well as we aim to stay in the premiership.”
Former Chicken Inn captain Moses Jackson, Cripsen Machisi and Timothy January are some of the notable faces trying their luck at the newly promoted side.
