ZIMBABWE openers, Brian Bennett, and Tadiwanashe Marumani, once again set up the platform as the Chevrons beat Namibia by five-wickets to seal a T20 series victory with a match to spare.
The young openers put up a clinical display at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo this Tuesday to help the Chevrons beat Namibia by five wickets in the second T20, taking an unassailable two-nil (2-0) lead in the three-match series.
The visitors batted first and put up a commendable 169 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs with Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans taking two wickets each, while Tinotenda Mapisa and Sikander Raza chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Bennett and Marumani laid a solid platform with a 69-run stand, with Bennett aggressive with a fluent 40 off 20 balls.
After his dismissal, Marumani took over with some nasty hits on his way to a second consecutive 50 before he was dismissed.
Cameos from Tony Munyonga and Ryan Burl saw the team home with almost two overs to spare.
Zimbabwe take an unassailable two-nil (2-0) lead going into the final match of the series, a welcome boost as the Chevrons build towards the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifiers later this year.
The third and final T20I is set for Thursday at the same venue, where Zimbabwe will be aiming for a clean sweep while Namibia fight to salvage pride.
