Zimbabwe eyes benefits as SADC chair region

Zimbabwe is expected to take advantage of its position as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) chair to enhance the country’s economic collaboration with other regional countries in line with the national vision.

The Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development held a strategic review workshop in Bulawayo this Monday which saw Minister Monica Mutsvangwa emphasising the importance of enhancing the country’s economic integration with the regional community in line with the national vision.

“We take pride in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent appointment as Chairman of the SADC Community. This esteemed position underscores Zimbabwe’s growing influence and commitment to regional cooperation. Under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, we anticipate enhanced collaboration and economic integration among SADC member states, propelling growth and development for our nation and the region,” she said.

Government’s development partners including the United Nations Development Programme, UN Women, and United Nations Population Fund reaffirmed their collective commitment to foster sustainable development paying particular attention to the socio-economic wellbeing of women.

The Strategic Plan Review Workshop is held annually as part of efforts to create a clear roadmap that guides the ministry on its next phase.
