THE 2024 national anti-sanctions petition was this Tuesday taken to the ZANU PF headquarters in Harare where Politburo members appended their signatures to disapprove the illegal embargo imposed on the country by the West at the turn of the millennium.
The petition comes a few days before the SADC anti-sanction day to be marked on Friday this week.
“The United Nations rapporteur made it clear that these illegal sanctions have a negative effect on the country and as Zimbabweans, we are rallying behind removing these sanctions,” ZANU PF Politburo member, Honourable Ziyambi Ziyambi said.
“We want to be involved in the whole global economic affairs and sanctions are an impediment,” weighed in Senator Charles Tawengwa another ZANU PF Politburo member.
“These sanctions know no boundaries and everyone must call for their removal,” added ZANU PF Politburo member, Honourable Supa Mandiwanzira.
Citizens Against Economic Sanctions Director, Mr Martin Zharare said they are targeting one million people across the country to sign the monumental petition.
“We want one million signatures and proceed to the American embassy to present evidence that Zimbabweans want the illegal sanctions to be removed.”
This year’s SADC anti-sanctions day will coincide with ZANU PF’s 21st Annual National People’s Conference to be held in Bulawayo and thousands of Zimbabweans have signed an anti-sanctions petition to amplify calls for the lifting of sanctions.
