YOUTHS have been implored to embrace career opportunities availed by government and stay away from drug and substance abuse.

The relationship between the church and government was on show at the Seventh Day Adventist city centre church week-long camp meeting in Mazowe District meant to enlighten young people about career pathways.

The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Honourable Tino Machakaire, who was the guest of honour, implored youths to stay away from drugs and embrace career opportunities availed by government.

“In terms of building careers, government has vast opportunities which you can explore and become successful. Most importantly, you must stay away from drugs and substance abuse which is one of the factors that can hinder career growth. Government has come up with a number of initiatives to fight such vices for a productive future generation,” he said.

Representing Air Force of Zimbabwe Commander, Air Marshal John Jacob Nzvede, Air Vice Marshal Biltim Chingono weighed in saying every patriotic Zimbabwean has a right to join the defence forces, adding opportunities are in abundance.

“There is nothing that stops any patriotic Zimbabwean to join the forces. We all need protection but someone has to do it. Encourage all our youths the tasks of defending Zimbabwe’s interests,” he noted.

SDA City Centre Church Pastor Lavern Moyo said the idea is to inspire children on their career path through motivation and prayer, “We want Inspire them to be good citizens, be very patriotic to our country, desire to make a positive impact.”

Seventh Day Adventist Career Day saw exhibitions from the Air Force of Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, among other organisations, as a way of inspiring youths on their career pathways.
