The judiciary will today host ceremonies to mark the official opening of the 2023 legal year across the country.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba will preside over the main event in Harare, while other Constitutional Court judges will lead ceremonies in other provinces.

The Chief Justice is expected to set the tone for the legal year, while also giving an overview of the state of affairs in the country’s justice delivery system.

Deputy Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza will preside over the event in Bulawayo, Justice Rita Makarau in Masvingo, Justice Paddington Garwe will lead the event in Mutare, while Judge President Justice Mary Dube will preside over the ceremony in Chinhoyi.

The Judiciary Service Commission has been on an accelerated drive to establish courts across the country to improve citizens’ access to justice.

It is also in the process of digitalising its operations to enhance service delivery and promote access to justice for the citizenry.
