Ngodzo joins Gwanda Pirates as head coach

GWANDA Pirates fans are bubbling with confidence after the club unveiled former Highlanders midfielder Johannes Ngodzo as their new head coach.

After securing the services of the yesteryear midfield maestro, Johannes ‘Signature’ Ngodzo as Gwanda Pirates coach, the mining town is excited and hopeful of finally bringing Premier Soccer League football back to Phelandaba stadium.

Ngodzo, who has coaching experience with Adachi FC and Bantu Rivers has already hit the ground running with a stellar performance against Highlanders in a friendly match on Saturday has priced away the hearts of the black and white fans.

“The new coach has the experience as a player and we hope he is going to bring it to the team,” a fan said.

The new gaffer is confident of turning around the fortunes of Gwanda football.

“From the performances I am getting from the boys, I am confident that if we are united and we can build a formidable team. A team that can compete at the top,” said Ngodzo.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo giants Highlanders continue with their rebuilding exercise, with coach Kelvin Kaindu racing against time to come up with a competitive team.

“I am impressed with the boys’ performances in all the friendlies that we have had so far. We are not yet there, but the number of goals we have scored gives us a good picture,” Kaunda said.

Inspired by the exploits of Simba Bhora, Gwanda Pirates stormed into the ZIFA Central Region Division One League after clinching the second division.
