Networking identified as key in marketing Brand Zimbabwe

Story by Peter Chivhima

NETWORKING has been identified as a vital cog in telling the true Zimbabwean story within and beyond the country’s borders.

With the world becoming a fast-paced and interconnected community, effective communication has been identified as key to driving growth, innovation, and sustainable development.

As part of ways to complement government efforts in marketing Brand Zimbabwe, the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe launched the Zimbabwe Association of Business Communicators(ZABC) in Harare this Tuesday.

“As we embark on this journey together let us embrace collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning, we can shape the future of business communication in Zimbabwe and make a lasting impact on the success of our organisation and the prosperity of Zimbabwe,” said ZABC Board Chairperson, Patricia Murambinda.

“I bring a lot of expertise that will help market our nation. I have a lot of experience with Non-Governmental Organisations which spanned for 15 years. The establishment of our association means a lot for our country and it’s a reflection of our collective efforts to advance the standards of business communication in Zimbabwe. We need to share ideas and networking,” said ZABC Board member, Mrs Angela Machonesa Rusike.

Guest of honour at the event and Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere noted the importance of networking and unity of purpose in marketing Brand Zimbabwe.

“We certainly believe that ZABC will give us the opportunity to market our country. The primary focus now is how this association will be able to contribute to continental free trade. There has been much development in the country in the last few years and I encourage communicators to tell the true story about the brand Zimbabwe for the world to know.

“The number one brand we are supposed to market is Zimbabwe. We must support the development of Zimbabwe so the launch of ZABC is of paramount importance because it creates opportunities to network with the business community, network with communicators, and network with various organisations for the development of our Nation,” he said.

The platform was also an opportunity for the association to choose board members who will steer ZABC for the next two years.

The association focuses on networking among, marketers, corporate communicators, and public affairs practitioners.
