THE Presidential Borehole Sinking Programme has gathered pace with Gokwe Rural District Council procuring a borehole drilling rig using devolution funds.

Government’s devolution programme is bearing fruit in formerly marginalised communities, with the Gokwe-Mapfungautsi area being the latest to benefit after procurement of a borehole drilling rig by the Rural District Council.

Gokwe-Mapfungautsi Legislator, Honourable Tawanda Karikoga commended the Rural District Council for channeling funds towards procurement of critical equipment.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for availing devolution funds used to procure some of the equipment for Gokwe RDC and also commend the local authority for using the funds productively. The equipment will go a long way in improving service delivery for Gokwe people,” he said.

Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube said provision of water remains key in the attainment of an upper middle-income society by 2030.

“This event not only represents a remarkable achievement, but also exemplifies the transformative work being carried out by the Second Republic under the unparalleled leadership of His Excellency President Mnangagwa. The devolution programme has managed to transform our communities in the Midlands Province and I’m sure that at this pace vision 2030 is achievable before 2030,” said Hon Ncube.

Under the Presidential Borehole Sinking Programme, government is sinking 35 thousand solarised boreholes across the country.
