Chevrons lose T20 series

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

BLESSING Muzarabani’s heroics were in vain as the Chevrons lost their third T20 match against Bangladesh by nine runs to go three-nil down in the five-match series.

Zimbabwe went into the match seeking nothing short of victory to save the series.

Blessing Muzarabani struck early to dent the hosts and he would get two more wickets before the end of the innings to record his best bowling figures in T20s after an impressive three for 14 runs.

Despite the setback, Bangladeshi Tigers managed to post a competitive 165 for five in their allotted 20 overs.

As usual Zimbabwe’s chase started off on the wrong foot after losing Joylord Gumbie in the third over, Rookie Brian Bennett soon followed and by the halfway mark the Chevrons had already lost six wickets.

The visitors later clawed to 159 runs losing by nine wickets and go down three-nil in the five-match series.

Zimbabwe will be seeking a face saver in the remaining two matches scheduled for Friday and Sunday.
