A 30-year-old woman from Plumtree is set to face the music after being arrested for kidnapping a baby at a local hospital.

It is alleged that the accused ran out of luck when she presented a seven-day-old baby at Empandeni Clinic, claiming to have given birth at home.

It is further alleged that nurses became suspicious after she failed to give satisfactory answers on why she had never been to any clinic during her pregnancy.

The woman, identified as Anita Moyo was arrested after the mother of the child positively identified the baby and the accused.

The woman disappeared with the baby on Monday after deceiving the unsuspecting biological mother into believing that she was a trustworthy parent.  

Matabeleland South Police Spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident.
