A book has been launched to market the Victoria Falls destination in pictures in an effort to market the tourist destination.
Dubbed ‘Victoria Falls in Pictures,’ the book is one of the many strategies to put the destination on the global spotlight.
“The Victoria Falls in Pictures Book which we are launching today is indeed a story worth broadcasting in every household, office and school, because it tells the story of Zimbabwe and the world at large not in many words, but in pictures, bringing out the beauty of the majestic Victoria Falls.
“They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Indeed, those words came to life when we saw Victoria Falls in Pictures showcasing the Victoria Falls most of us didn’t know,” said the Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu.
The author says she is inspired by the need to tell the Zimbabwean story from a Zimbabwean perspective.
“The book will put Zimbabwe on the map. We were used to reading books from foreigners. This time we did it on our own. Many thanks to the Minister for believing in the dream,” said Beatrice Sithole, the brains behind the book.
The Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe says the books gives Victoria Falls a new lease of life.
“It brings to life one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders, the Victoria Falls. But it is not just about the breath-taking beauty of the Falls; the book also showcases the rich culture, history, and vibrant communities that thrive in its surroundings and make this place truly unique,” said the Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe representative, Ms Violet Rukande.
Zimbabwe’s tourism sector is on a recovery path with experts confident that the US$5 billion tourism industry by 2025 is attainable.
