Zimbabwe and Pakistan deepen trade relations

Story by Davison Vandira

THE country’s private sector under the banner of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) upgraded trade relations with the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

The agreement between the two Chambers of Commerce is in total conformity with Zimbabwe’s economic diplomacy on engagement and re-engagement thrust as well as the aspirations of the National Development Strategy One which is seeking export-led growth.

Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce president, Mr Mike Kamungeremu expressed his optimism on the established economic relationship set to bring mutual benefits to the two countries.

“We are very ecstatic as Zimbabwe’s private sector to continue broadening our business especially out of the country where we generate hard currency which is critical for the country’s development agenda towards the realisation of the all inclusive vision 2030 which the government together with the private sector have come together to see that it comes to fruition within the set timelines,” he said.

The signed MOU is designed to promote the development of trade and economic relations driven by the homogeneous economic activities that exist between Zimbabwe and the Middle East nation.

Under the National Development Strategy One, Zimbabwe is underpinning the private sector to spearhead sustainable growth of the economy towards the envisaged upper middle-class economy by the year 2030.
