THE Lowveld, which is renowned for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes, is increasingly gaining recognition as a must-visit destination for tourists.
As the sun sets over the Lowveld, in Gonarezhou National Park, a Swedish couple shares its inspiring journey through Zimbabwe.
Cycling through the country’s diverse landscapes, they have immersed themselves in the rich wildlife, cultural heritage, breath-taking scenery and Zimbabwe’s hospitality.
“We have been captivated by the beauty of the Lowveld Valley. The wildlife encounters have been unforgettable and the locals are incredibly welcoming. We have been sharing our experiences and stunning photographs on social media to inspire others to visit this hidden gem,” said Mr Jens Assur.
Gonarezhou National Park, the second-largest wildlife sanctuary in Zimbabwe, offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the country’s diverse ecosystems.
One of the park’s most iconic features is the Chilojo Cliffs, a series of dramatic sandstone cliffs that provide stunning panoramic views.
“The Chilojo Cliffs are a must-see for any visitor to Gonarezhou. The views are simply breathtaking and you can often spot wildlife, such as elephants and giraffes, grazing below. This has become a popular destination in the park where most tourists capture the cliffs and the scenery,” tour guide, Mr Aleck Simbini said.
While the park has seen a significant rise in international tourists, particularly from SADC countries, local visitors have also been contributing to the growth of the tourism industry.
“We have seen a significant rise in tourist traffic, especially from neighbouring SADC countries with locals driving the highest numbers. Zimbabwe’s reputation as a wildlife haven and its commitment to sustainable tourism are driving this growth,” noted Gonarezhou tourism officer, Prudence Ndabani.
As the country continues to promote responsible travel and protect its natural resources, Gonarezhou is poised to become an even more popular destination for those seeking adventure and connection with nature.
