THE Annual Broadcasters Convention gets underway this Wednesday at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo, bringing together key players in Zimbabwe’s media and broadcasting sector to discuss the future of the industry.
The two-day convention is being held under the theme, “Shaping the Future of Broadcasting: Sustainability, Innovation and Collaborative Regulation in a Disruptive Media Landscape.”
The gathering is expected to attract broadcasters, content creators, policymakers, technology innovators, regulators, academics, and regional and international stakeholders.
Discussions will focus on developments within Zimbabwe’s broadcasting sector, future policy direction, regulation in an increasingly converged digital environment, and strategies for strengthening links between academic research and broadcasting practice.
The convention comes at a time when broadcasters worldwide are navigating rapid technological change, evolving audience preferences and the growing influence of digital platforms on content production and distribution.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda is expected to officially open the convention and outline Government’s policy direction for the broadcasting sector.
Stakeholders are expected to use the platform to explore opportunities for innovation, sustainability and collaboration as the industry adapts to a rapidly changing media landscape.
