THE expansion and modernisation of the Beitbridge Border Post has set in motion massive investment opportunities in the manufacturing industry within the transit town, following an increase in demand for construction and transport industries.
Trailer, horse manufacturing and construction companies are being established to meet the growing demand caused by the expansion and modernisation of the border post.
“We are employing 18 people on a permanent basis as we manufacture trailers and containers. It excites us that the government is supporting us to grow our business and develop our country. It excites us that this was a preserve for well established companies, but we started small and we have grown,” said a business owner, Eddias Gweru.
Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who toured Zero Bars and a brick moulding company this Friday, reaffirmed government’s support to the growing businesses.
“It was inspiring to see firsthand the dedication and hard work that the people of Beitbridge are putting into developing their community. The progress I witnessed today is a testament to the commitment of our people to the development of Zimbabwe. We must continue to foster an environment that encourages innovation, supports collaboration and promotes inclusivity. This requires commitment from stakeholders, including government and the private sector,” he said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Mohadi attended the Sundrive Business Summit where the local leadership was convinced that the platform provided an opportunity for business linkages.
“The summit stands as a testimony to our collective commitment to propel our nation towards an envisioned future where prosperity and progress are shared by all in this country. This gathering symbolises unity, determination and a shared vision for a brighter tomorrow. As government, we envision a community empowered with knowledge inspiration by innovation and purpose,” noted the Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Evelyn Ndlovu.
In his address at the summit, Vice President Mohadi reaffirmed government’s commitment to empower the youths for continuity and sustainability.
“The youth in particular have a critical role to play in this journey. You are the future leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs of Zimbabwe. Your energy, creativity and passion are invaluable assets to our nation. I urge you to seize the opportunities presented by this summit, learn to network and contribute to the development of our country.”
The Sundrive Business Summit brought together government departments, entrepreneurs in various sectors including the South African Muvhango actor, Gabriel Temudzani.
