PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to officially launch Zimbabwe’s Review Report of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Harare on Thursday, marking another milestone in the country’s governance and development agenda.

The institutionalisation of the APRM in Zimbabwe is designed to strengthen self-assessment, peer accountability and continuous improvement by aligning national policies with continental best practices while reinforcing a commitment to good governance and people-centred development.

Ugandan Vice President Honourable Jessica Rose Epel Alupo arrived in Harare on Wednesday ahead of the launch.

She was received at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Attorney General Virginia Mabhiza and senior Government officials.

Following her arrival, Vice President Alupo paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at the Munhumutapa Offices.

The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, with particular emphasis on boosting tourism and advancing cooperation under the African Peer Review Mechanism.

The Zimbabwe APRM Review Report focuses on strengthening governance systems and accelerating national development through recommendations covering key thematic areas.

These include democracy and political governance, economic governance and management, corporate governance, socio-economic development, state resilience and e-governance.

The African Peer Review Mechanism is a voluntary self-monitoring instrument established by African Union member states to promote good governance, transparency and sustainable development across the continent.
