ZIMBABWE’S whitewater rafting team has launched its campaign at the 2026 World Rafting Cup Series in Kenya, with the opening sprint race set to determine the groupings for the remainder of the competition.

The team began its quest for honours in Sagana on Thursday, where a crucial 300-metre sprint will shape the draw for the rest of the championships, making a strong start essential.

Team Zimbabwe comprises Philani Moyo, Nalishebo Mathe, Kingleon Moyo and Liberty Moyo.

The quartet returns to international competition seeking to build on Zimbabwe’s proud rafting heritage, following the country’s gold medal success at the 2012 African Intercontinental Rafting Championships.

The event also marks a milestone for the continent, with Kenya becoming the first African nation to host the World and African Rafting Championships.
