THE Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Association (ZILIWACO) has reaffirmed its support for the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill (CAB3), saying continuity of leadership is important for sustaining the country’s development gains.

The position was reiterated during an interface meeting in Gweru, which also formed part of the association’s nationwide membership verification exercise aimed at strengthening its structures and updating its membership database.

Development and the recognition of liberation war collaborators dominated discussions, with delegates expressing support for the proposed constitutional amendment, saying it would help ensure development programmes continue uninterrupted while advancing the welfare of liberation war collaborators.

ZILIWACO National Vice Chairperson Cde Josephine Gandiya said the organisation was also focused on strengthening its membership base.

“We support Constitutional Amendment No. 3 because we have witnessed development under the current leadership. We also want the recognition and welfare of liberation war collaborators to continue improving. At the same time, we are verifying our membership across the country to strengthen our organisation,” she said.

Members attending the meeting also voiced their support for the proposed amendment.

“We support CAB3 because we are witnessing development in our communities. We want these programmes to continue benefiting future generations,” said one member.

Another participant said continuity would create more opportunities for young people.

“As young people, we have benefited from Government programmes and believe continuity will create more opportunities for us,” the member said.

The Midlands interface forms part of a series of provincial engagements being held nationwide as ZILIWACO continues its membership verification exercise, consolidates its organisational structures and reiterates its position on the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill.
