National Cell Day to strengthen ZANU PF membership database

PREPARATIONS for the second round of the ZANU PF National Cell Day exercise, scheduled for this Saturday, are at an advanced stage, with the ruling party saying all structures are being mobilised ahead of the nationwide programme.

The exercise is aimed at auditing and validating cell structures across the party’s provinces as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots structures and update the membership database.

ZANU PF Director of Information and Publicity, Cde Farai Marapira said the programme is central to the party’s digitisation drive and the maintenance of viable cell structures.

“We are in the advanced stages of preparations for the second round of the National Cell Day. Remember, we are digitising our database and, therefore, we must continually assess party membership while ensuring that the cell, which is the most basic and important unit of every organisation, remains viable. In terms of preparations, we are well ahead,” he said.

In Harare Province, party structures are targeting increased membership through the exercise.

Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza said preparations began more than a month ago, with party leaders expected to participate at cell level.

“We are targeting to increase provincial membership to more than 45 000, and preparations for that began more than a month ago. All our provincial leaders will be in their respective cells under the leadership of Cell Chairpersons,” he said.

The National Cell Day programme is expected to culminate in the submission of updated cell registers by provinces, with members’ details aligned to polling station records as part of the validation process.
