ZIMBABWE is showcasing its tourism investment potential at the 2026 Angola Investment Summit in Luanda, where regional leaders, investors and global tourism stakeholders are exploring opportunities to drive economic growth through tourism-led development.
The summit, running from 17 to 19 June, is focusing on investment opportunities within the tourism sector and has brought together policymakers, development partners and industry leaders from across the globe.
Representing President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, highlighted Zimbabwe’s tourism growth and the country’s emergence as a leading global destination of choice in 2025.
Honourable Rwodzi attributed the sector’s performance to the country’s peaceful environment, stability and policy reforms implemented under the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
“Zimbabwe’s soft diplomacy, peace and stability, coupled with the implementation of NDS1 and NDS2, have driven tourism growth through the diversification of products and destinations across the country.
“The summit has provided a valuable platform for sharing experiences and reinforcing tourism’s role as a catalyst for investment, employment creation and sustainable national development,” she said.
She noted that discussions at the summit underscored tourism’s growing role as a gateway for international investment and broader economic transformation.
“Leaders and experts, including representatives from the World Tourism Forum Institute, have emphasised that tourism is one of the most accessible entry points for international investment, capable of stimulating infrastructure development and generating widespread employment opportunities.
“Discussions highlighted investment pathways across a variety of sectors, including tourism, hospitality, aviation, infrastructure, real estate and agriculture,” she said.
Honourable Rwodzi said the summit presents an important opportunity to strengthen partnerships and attract investment into Zimbabwe’s tourism sector.
“The Global Tourism Forum Angola Investment Summit is a landmark platform designed to mobilise global capital, strengthen public-private collaboration and strategically position Zimbabwe as one of Africa’s most dynamic emerging tourism and investment destinations,” she said.
The summit is expected to enhance collaboration between governments, investors and industry stakeholders while unlocking new opportunities for sustainable tourism growth across the region.
