ZIMBABWE strengthened their push for a place in the Davis Cup Africa Group IV promotion play-offs after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in Nairobi, Kenya.
The win keeps Zimbabwe firmly on course for a return to Group Three.
The result boosts Zimbabwe’s chances of finishing in the top two of the pool, positions that guarantee qualification for the promotion play-offs, where teams will battle for places in Africa Group III next year.
The victory follows Zimbabwe’s dominant start to the campaign, in which they whitewashed Mozambique 3-0 to set the tone for the tournament.
Attention now turns to Friday’s crucial encounter against Angola, with Zimbabwe seeking to maintain their winning momentum and secure a place in the promotion play-offs.
