Key trio return to training as Warriors prepare for decisive Angola clash

ZIMBABWE’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign received a timely lift on Wednesday after Knowledge Musona, Sean Fusire and Divine Lunga returned to full training ahead of Friday’s crucial Group B encounter against Angola.

The trio had missed the Warriors’ opening fixture against Egypt after sustaining knocks, but all three completed a high-intensity two-hour training session in Marrakech as preparations intensified for the Boxing Day match.

Their return strengthens head coach Marian Marinica’s options at a pivotal stage of the tournament, with Zimbabwe needing a positive result to remain in contention for progression from the group.

The session involved almost the entire squad, with only Denmark-based defender Munashe Garananga absent. Garananga was sidelined after sustaining a dead leg and is currently under medical assessment.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Football Association confirmed that the defender remains under observation, with a decision on his availability expected closer to matchday.

Following the narrow 2–1 defeat to Egypt, the Warriors are seeking a favourable result against Angola as they aim to keep their AFCON hopes alive. Zimbabwe are still chasing a first-ever appearance beyond the group stages, having fallen short in their previous tournament outings.
