ACTING President, General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga has toured various stands at the 25th edition of Zimbabwe’s premier mining, engineering, and transport exhibition, Mine Entra which is showcasing the latest innovations in mining technology and services.
The tour reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening the mining sector, a key pillar of Zimbabwe’s economic growth and industrialisation agenda.
Engaging directly with exhibitors, investors, and captains of industry, Acting President Chiwenga gained firsthand insight into current operational strategies and future growth prospects within the sector.
He reiterated Government’s policy of fostering a favourable environment for both local and foreign direct investment, while emphasising the importance of value addition and beneficiation to ensure Zimbabwe derives maximum benefit from its vast mineral resources.
The Acting President also stressed the need for the adoption of advanced, sustainable, and responsible mining practices, urging all stakeholders to embrace innovation and modern technology to boost productivity, enhance safety, and minimise environmental impact.
The mining sector remains a vital contributor to Zimbabwe’s economy, accounting for approximately 12 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating between 70 and 80 percent of national export earnings.
