THE 2025 football season has been nothing short of exhilarating, with lower league teams locked in an intense battle for promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
In the Division One league, the competition is fierce, with teams giving it their all to secure a coveted spot in the top flight.
In the Eastern Region, FC Hunters have taken a two-point lead over Masvingo United after a thrilling 7-0 win over St Paul’s Musami.
Masvingo United were held to a goalless draw by Renco Mine, allowing FC Hunters to seize the opportunity.
In the Southern Region, Bulawayo Chiefs are leading the pack with 61 points, but Nkayi on 58 and Hwange on 56 are closing in.
All three teams picked up wins over the weekend, keeping the promotion race intense with seven games to go and every point counts.
The Northern Region is witnessing a fierce battle between N’ombeyaora with 72 points and Agama on 71, who are separated by just one point.
One of the two will see a new face in the Premiership.
In the Central Region, Gwanda Pirates’ 1-0 win over Sheasham has narrowed the gap at the top.
Sheasham still leads with 66 points, Hadrock on 64 are keeping the pressure on while Gwanda Pirates are now eight points behind the log leaders.
