Ngezi, Scottland brace for decisive Chibuku Cup showdowns

CHIBUKU Super Cup runner-ups, Ngezi Platinum Stars and ambitious new boys Scottland have a tougher ultimatum to progress to the last eight of the knockout tourney this Sunday as they face unpredictable opponents.

Perennial Chibuku Super Cup campaigners, Ngezi Platinum Stars, this Saturday will seek to maintain their good cup run when they host Triangle at the Baobab.

The 2016 champions, who lifted the cup in their maiden appearance, have been regulars in the final of the knockout tournament, coming short during the shootout on the majority of occasions.

The Mhondoro-based outfit came close to lifting the title in 2019 and 2021 before losing consecutive finals to Dynamos in 2023 and 2024, making them the most consistent club in the tourney since their promotion.

This Saturday, they face a Triangle outfit that has been unbeaten in the last five matches and has found its way out of the relegation places.

In Mutare, ambitious new boys Scottland, who are keen on getting at least one continental football slot by winning either the league or the cup, renew their bid for a continental dance as they face Green Fuel at Sakubva Stadium.

The two teams have faced each other once in the league, with the match ending as a two-all draw in June, making the match a must-watch, unpredictable fixture.
