Beira Consulate upgrade nears completion

REFURBISHMENT works at the Zimbabwean Consulate in Beira, Mozambique, are now at an advanced stage, with final touches expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

Renovation of the consulate began in 2022 but experienced delays due to the impact of tropical cyclones in the region. The upgrade includes civil works, repainting, improved security infrastructure, and the remodelling of residential quarters for consulate staff.

Special Advisor to the President responsible for Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes, Dr Joram Gumbo, will assess the facility this Wednesday as part of his broader mission in Mozambique.

The consulate assists Zimbabweans to access essential documents, provides emergency support, and facilitates trade and tourism between the two countries.

Located in Mozambique’s second-largest port of Beira, the office serves seven provinces, including Sofala, Manica, Tete, Zambezia, Nampula, Cabo Delgado, and Niassa.

The project directly aligns with the objectives of the National Development Strategy One, which emphasises the importance of cultivating a positive national image to attract investment and foster international partnerships.
