THE Cricket Ekhaya Ekasi initiative has partnered with Looks Sportswear in a five-year deal to supply kits, marking a crucial step in their mission to promote cricket in rural areas.

Affiliated with Zimbabwe Cricket, Ekhaya Ekasi’s focus on the Matabeleland provinces is part of a larger vision to spread cricket to all the country’s 10 provinces.

The ambitious plan is integral to their 10-year programme aimed at establishing a national league and developing cricket at the grassroots level.

“We want every child in Zimbabwe to know cricket, just like they know football. We want them to be familiar with the cricket ball and bat, and to have the opportunity to develop their skills in a sport that can take them to new heights,” Cricket Ekhaya Ekasi’s Director Development Dumisani Mankunzini noted.

“By partnering with Ekhaya Ekasi, we aim to widen the range of opportunities for young cricketers in Zimbabwe. We are excited to be part of this journey and to play a role in promoting cricket in rural areas,” Looks Sportswear’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Chiveso said.

By providing these opportunities, Ekhaya Ekasi aims to produce world-class cricket administrators, coaches, and players who can represent Zimbabwe on the international stage.

Zimbabwe Cricket already has the Cricket Kumusha-Emakhaya, which was launched over three years ago and this latest initiative is complementing the development efforts in rural communities.
