ZIMBABWE finished day two on a high note, picking up four wickets for 20 runs in the final session to limit Bangladesh’s lead to 64 in the second test in Chattogram this Tuesday.
The hosts started the day in the best possible fashion, picking up Zimbabwe’s remaining wicket without any sweat before their opening batters put on a century stand to gain control of the match.
Blessing Muzarabani got the breakthrough for Zimbabwe just after lunch, but the Tigers fought hard and remained in control after another solid partnership at the top of the order before Wellington Masakadza broke the partnership.
With the hosts looking to regain control Brian Bennett struck as he dismissed opener Shadman Islam for 120 and start to swing momentum in the visitors’ favour.
With the door having been opened debutant Vincent Masekesa made the most of the opportunity taking three wickets for 44 runs as the led spinner announced himself in cricket longest format.
Agile Wessly Madhevere then enforced a run-out to make sure that Bangladesh do not go too far ahead in the match.
Day two of the second and final Test match ended with Bangladesh on 291 for 7, leading by 64 runs.
Zimbabwe are leading one-nil in the two-match series.
