THOUSANDS of pilgrims and prominent leaders have gathered at the Vatican to pay their respects to Pope Francis. The Pope passed away on Monday, and the funeral Mass is being held six days after he delivered his Easter blessing to the crowds at St Peter’s Square.
Notable attendees include United States President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, and former United States President Joe Biden.
Zimbabwe is represented by Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, a devout Catholic.
The funeral Mass is taking place in Vatican City, marking a sombre occasion for Catholics and world leaders alike.
