Opposition outfit calls for peace

Story by Mhlomuli Ncube

OPPOSITION outfit Zimbabwe African National Congress (ZANC) president Mr Timothy Mncube has praised the development strides attained by the Second Republic, noting the need to uphold the prevailing peace.

The opposition party, which also contested the August 2023 General Elections has dismissed elements calling for demonstrations as misplaced, saying the country is on a sound economic growth trajectory.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, I urge you to prioritise peace and stability in our beloved country. I know that emotions run high when it comes to our leadership, but let us not forget the progress we’ve made so far. We’ve all suffered under the mistakes of the past, but it’s time to break free from the shackles of history. Our current President is working tirelessly to develop our nation, and we must give him the chance to lead us forward. Protesting can be a powerful tool, but let us use it wisely. Unnecessary protests only lead to harm and division. Instead, let us engage in constructive dialogue and work together towards a brighter future,” said Mncube.

Stability has been cited as a key element in ensuring the country attains its national development goals to improve people’s lives under the National Development Strategy One and Vision 2030
