Zimbabwe engagement, re-engagement drive on course

Story by ZBC Reporter

ZIMBABWE has taken its engagement and re-engagement drive to New Zealand where the country is participating at the 55th National Fieldays Exhibition, which kicked off in Hamilton this Wednesday.

The National Fieldays event attracts over 100 000 visitors each year and Zimbabwe is hoping to take advantage of the platform to come up with strategic partnerships as explained by the country’s top envoy to Australia, Ambassador Joe Mhishi.

“New Zealand has a population of five million but it is feeding up to 55 million people globally, which speaks to how they have advanced in crop and animal production. We, therefore, seek to learn a lot and cooperate with scientists and experts here as we further our open-for-business mantra,” said Ambassador Mhishi.

Exhibiting under the theme “Sustainable Agriculture Innovations and Industrialisation for Improved Food and Nutrition Security for an Empowered Society by 2030,” Zimbabwe has a delegation that comprises Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences, Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology as well as the National University of Science and Technology.

The delegation also includes the Chinhoyi University of Technology, Bindura University of Science Education, Zimtrade, and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Affairs, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, among others.
