Zim Cricket ready to host World Cup Qualifier

ZIMBABWE Cricket has pulled out all stops to make sure the 2023 International Cricket Council World Cup Qualifier which starts this Sunday is a success.

The qualifier that will determine two teams that will join eight other countries that have already qualified for the 2023 World Cup.

34 matches will be played at four venues across the country namely, Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo Athletic Club, Takashinga Cricket Club on top of Harare Sports Club which will stage the final as well as other matches.

With four days to go before the start of the tournament, it is all systems go.

“The venues are ready now, there were just a few touch-ups left on the branding side but we are ready. I can confidently confirm that we are 100% ready to host the matches. The warm-up and training facilities have also been done, so we are good to go. All the other service providers we will be working with have also submitted their readiness reports so let the games begin,” noted Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director, Givemore Makoni.

All ten teams will play their final warm-up matches this Thursday, with hosts Zimbabwe taking on Scotland at Old Hararians, while West Indies battle the United Arab Emirates at Takashinga, with the final warm-up match in the capital being hosted at Harare Sports Club where Oman plays Nepal.

In Bulawayo, Ireland battle the Netherlands at Queens Sports Club, while Sri Lanka take on the USA at Bulawayo Athletic Club.
