Women’s Premier Soccer League postponed

Story by Anashe Murombedzi, Sports Reporter

THE Women’s Premier Soccer League, which was scheduled to kick off this weekend has been postponed giving clubs more time to meet all requirements, including affiliation fees.

Women Premier Soccer League interim board chairperson, Theresa Maguraushe said the postponement is meant to give teams more time to meet requirements such as the FIFA Connect registration of players, submission of club constitutions, banking details, club structures, and affiliation fees.

“We want to try and make sure we have complied with everything that is required by FIFA, we are supposed to comply with the club registration process which has to be done through the FIFA committee and also have the correct ratified rules and regulations of our league and women’s football constitution so that when we start, we will not have any distraction,” she said.

It also emerged that the league’s constitution has not yet been ratified.

Maguraushe also revealed that the Women’s Premier Soccer League is working on marketing and sponsorship deals to ensure everything is in place before the first ball is kicked.
