Rhinos gore Eagles

Story by Anashe Murombedzi, Sports Reporter

Rhinos turned the tables on defending champions Eagles after strolling to a 39-run victory in a Women’s Inter-provincial Fifty50 challenge match played in Kwekwe this Saturday.

At Goldridge High School, Eagles were up against Rhinos in the fifty50 challenge which saw skipper Modester Mupachikwa winning the toss and decided to field.

Rhinos put up 136 runs for 9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Chasing a modest total, the Eagles faltered as they were dismissed for 97 runs in 26 overs giving Rhinos a 39-run victory and avenged Friday’s defeat to the same opponents in a Twenty20 match.

At Kwekwe Sports Club, Mountaineers batted first and had Pellagia Mujaji (54) and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano (24) as the only batters who got into double figures as they were bundled out for 120 runs.

In reply Tuskers enjoyed their chase as they lost only 2 wickets and reached the target with 30 overs to spare after a 123-8 wicket triumph.
