ZIMBABWE is hoping to use home advantage when they host the upcoming CAF African Schools Championship slated for Harare from the 14th to the 18th of December.
Zimbabwean teams are going through their paces as they hope to leave a lasting impression in the upcoming CAF African Schools Championship slated for Gateway School in Harare next week.
The competition started last year but Zimbabwe was ineligible to participate as they were under suspension by World Football Governing body FIFA.
However, with the lifting of the suspension, the hosts are hoping to reclaim their place in the region.
“We are playing at home and we hope to use that to our advantage, we know some already have international experience but we have trained well and we believe we are ready for it,” said Zimbabwe Under 15 girls coach, Irene Mwanza.
11 teams both boys and girls will join hosts Zimbabwe for the Zonal Phase of the competition where the winner will earn a ticket to compete among the continent’s best next year.
South Africa won both competitions last year.
