TAVENGWA Mukuhlani has been re-elected as the Chairperson of Zimbabwe Cricket at an elective Annual General Meeting which was held this Saturday in Bulawayo.
He was given the four-year mandate after he was re-elected unopposed at a Zimbabwe Cricket elective AGM.
The over-subscribed meeting, which was attended by all the affiliates of Zimbabwe Cricket and supervised by the Sports and Recreation Commission, also saw the association presenting audited financial results which were approved by the house.
Mukuhlani credited the previous board for sound financial management which helped Zimbabwe move from the red.
“Good financial stewardship has made this re-election possible we worked hard to make sure that we rescued the game and we managed the resources well which also got us the backing of the International Cricket Council,” he said.
He also believes that the fans that have been thronging match venues need to be rewarded.
“The fans have been fantastic and to sustain that we need to start winning matches, near misses won’t help, the Chevrons have to start qualifying for major tournaments, and the lady Chevrons also need to start qualifying for major tournaments so that supporter fatigue does not creep into the fans.”
Zimbabwe Cricket revealed plans to upgrade Harare Sports Club and Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo to accommodate more spectators.
