The Zimbabwe women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, are putting behind the disappointing defeat to Vanuatu as they look ahead to battle hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the ongoing T20 World Cup qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.

Despite the setback, the Lady Chevrons remain focused on their goal of qualifying for the World Cup.

Captain Mary-Anne Musonda and her team will be hoping to bounce back stronger in their remaining matches.

“I still feel we have a chance, we just need to fight in the last games, we have to make sure we have a spot in the semis.”

The Lady Chevrons now face an uphill task as they take on the UAE, targeting to get their first set of points.

Both teams are on a quest to heal from their defeats, with UAE losing to Ireland by six wickets.

The two sides have met in the global qualifiers before as UAE won the first group stage match with four wickets, while Zimbabwe put it on level with 47 runs in the next round.

The World Cup qualifiers which commenced on Thursday will run till the 7th of next month with 10 nations vying for the two remaining slots for World Cup qualification to be held later this year.
