ZANU PF deploys Politburo members for cell verification exercise

Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor

ZANU PF Politburo members have been deployed across the country to supervise the week-long cell verification exercise, which will be conducted in all provinces from this Saturday.

The exercise is part of preparations for the ZANU PF primary and national elections.

ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Dr Mike Bimha said the process will span over a week to ensure all areas are covered.

“We have deployed Politburo members to supervise the village or cell building and verification exercise from February 18 to 25. Politburo members will hold briefing meetings at various centres in their areas of jurisdiction,” he said.

Dr Bimha said the exercise will also produce a party voters’ roll which will be used for primary elections.

“This is an important exercise for two reasons, firstly, we fulfil provisions of our constitution, secondly, the authentic cells that will come up will constitute the voter’s roll which will be used for primary elections ahead of harmonised elections.”

ZANU PF is eyeing more than five million votes in the harmonised elections set to be held this year.
