CCC seeks regional intervention

Story by Wellington Makonese

THE opposition Citizens Coalition for Change(CCC) has called for the intervention of regional bodies to facilitate a re-run of the General Election, accusing the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of failing to pronounce the party’s victory.

The CCC party faced the media this Tuesday to clarify its position after rejecting the general election results that saw their presidential candidate coming second to the eventual winner, President Emmerson Mnangagwa of ZANU PF.

The party is looking to engage the regional bodies to facilitate fresh polls.

“We have said these are flawed results we do not accept them, ZEC failed in all aspects, what we are calling for is for the AU, and SADC to mediate so that we return to a democracy, we want a rerun of the election,” said Ostallos.

The party also made it clear that they are rejecting the election results in total including the parliamentary poll outcome.

The CCC also announced that it is exploring several strategies to nullify the election result but refused to confirm taking the legal route.
