PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to
commission the Mutoko Bioeconomy Industrial Park in Mutoko this Thursday.

The facility marks a significant step towards transforming university research into commercial enterprises that create jobs, stimulate rural industrialisation and accelerate Zimbabwe’s drive towards attaining an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

The industrial park is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development as part of efforts to ensure the country’s innovation-led industrialisation agenda becomes a reality.

The project is designed to advance industrialisation through science, innovation and the commercialisation of locally developed technologies, in line with the government’s industrialisation and modernisation agenda.

The industrial park is operated by Finealt Engineering, a company established through research conducted by Zimbabwe’s universities and polytechnics to transform academic research into practical industrial solutions.

Among its core functions, Finealt Engineering will establish rural bioeconomy industrial parks across the country, manufacture sustainable bioeconomy products, develop feedstock and livestock estates, procure raw materials from local outgrowers, conduct research into bioeconomy technologies, and train apprentices from rural districts with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

The Mutoko Bioeconomy Industrial Park is expected to promote value addition and beneficiation of local biological resources, reduce dependence on imports, strengthen domestic production, and enhance Zimbabwe’s competitiveness in regional and international markets.
