Zim Handball set to get the ball rolling

Story by Anashe Murombedzi, Sports Reporter

LOCAL handball clubs have begun preparations for the pre-season open tournament slated for Marondera next month.

Local handball action is about to begin with an open tournament that will run from the 8th to the 10th of March in Marondera.

10 clubs for both men and women are billed to participate.

“The clubs have begun preparations for the pre-season tournament. As the Zimbabwe Handball Federation, we have for the past two days had an induction of our local organising committee for the prestigious IHF trophy zone six which we are going to host,” said ZHF Secretary General, Edison Chiroodza.

The Zimbabwe Handball Federation is also geared for a number of activities this year, with the country set to host the International Handball Federation license D coaching course between 23 and 29 April.

Over 40 coaches are expected to take part in the course after it has become mandatory for coaches to hold license D if they are to lead teams at regional and continental levels.

Zimbabwe will also host the 2024 International Handball Federation Trophy Zone six championships for both the juniors (under 20) and the youth (under 18) in May.

In the same month, ZHF will hold the Beach handball coaching and officiating course.
