Zim commited to collaborate with Korea and other nations, says President Mnangagwa

Story by ZBC Reporter

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says Zimbabwe is commited to scaling up collaboration with Korea and other nations, to achieve mutually beneficial shared growth and prosperity.

The President said this in his address to delegations attending the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit, in Seoul.

He said Zimbabwe, which is open for business, has, however, been affected by illegal sanctions in the past 23 years, which were imposed by some Western countries, a development that negates the theme of the summit.

The President said leveraging on Zimbabwe’s rich natural resources, high literacy levels, strategic geographical location and a pleasant climate, the country is modernising and industrilising towards sustainable socio-economic development.

He commended Korea as a beacon and source of encouragement for developing countries in terms of appropriate policy ecosystems which promote transformative programmes meant to lift more people of Africa from poverty into a higher quality life.

President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe is ready to welcome partnerships and investments from Korea in agriculture and value addition of the country’s numerous minerals, such as lithium, iron and steel, chrome and gold, among others.

The summit is running under the theme: ‘The future we make together: shared growth, sustainability and solidarity’.
